CERTH

The Hellenic Institute of Transport (HIT) is part of the Centre for Research and Technology Hellas (CERTH), which is a legal, non-profit entity, organized under private law, founded in March 2000, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT), of the Greek Ministry of Development, Competitiveness, Infrastructures, Transport and Networks. Department B of CERTH/HIT is focusing on transport systems’ design, operation and optimization, involving optimization algorithms design and development.

CERTH/HIT’s main strengths and knowledge fields include analysis and optimization of transport systems and transport networks, transport modeling, real-time traffic estimation, multi-source data fusion, mobility management schemes, cooperative systems and of course a good overview of ITS from the infrastructures perspective.

CERTH/HIT main role in the project will be to coordinate a pilot in Thessaloniki aiming at testing the MaaS platform developed in the project with a fleet of taxis. In addition, CERTH/HIT will contribute to most horizontal activities of the project, especially to the ones dedicated to the algorithms for matching the demand with the supply for mobility in real time.

Role in the project:

CERTH will be the coordinator of WP2 and the leader of the pilot in Thessaloniki. It will also provide support to the positioning solution development, since they will assess the potential use of Road-Side units 802.11p for hybridasation with GNSS.
