From 10 to 11 April, Galileo 4 Mobility was presented at “La Jornada Catalana de la Mobilitat 2019”, held in Caldes de Montbui, Catalonia. Organised by AMTU (Association of municipalities for Mobility and Urban Transport), the event gathered over 400 professionals from public administration and transport operators in Catalonia. Martí Jofre, coordinator of G4M, explained the benefits of using GALILEO for demand-responsive mobility services and MaaS (Mobility as a Service), as well as the five pilot demonstrators that are going to take place in three different European cities (Barcelona, Paris and Thessaloniki) this year within the scope of the project. On 21 February, the second Galileo 4 Mobility Advisory Group (AG) meeting took place in Paris. Hosted by partner Clem’, the day provided the opportunity for the G4M consortium to gather valuable feedback from the AG members on key issues related to the project, and discuss the latest developments of the pilot sites. Within the framework of the Galileo 4 Mobility project, two workshops were held late December, one with AMB (Àrea metropolitana de Barcelona) and one with RACC (Reial Automòbil Club de Catalunya). The workshops aimed to define metrics which help improve the provision of mobility services and assess the performance of the pilots that both organisations will be carrying out in 2019. AMB will be testing the implementation of an on-demand bus service replacing a regular bus service, and RACC will be testing the benefits of completing a multimodal trip on its MaaS platform using a Galileo-enabled smartphone. On January 25, Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB) and Servei Català de Trànsit (SCT) had a first meeting to discuss the details of a potential new mobility service with autonomous vehicles on the university campus. During the meeting, issues such as the itinerary, frequency, users and technical specifications of the vehicle itself, were discussed. If implemented, the trial could be one of the pilots conducted in the GALILEO FOR MOBILITY framework. Galileo 4 Mobility is happy to announce that the taxi-sharing pilot in the Greek city of Thessaloniki is progressing well in terms of user engagement, mainly due to the involvement of the municipalities of Kalamaria and Thermi. The pilot, which aims to reduce traffic congestion in the city centre, is currently seeking participants and is planned to kick off in April. The Thessaloniki pilot has already been communicated through the social channels of the local authorities, such as their websites and their social media accounts. From 25 to 28 February, GALILEO FOR MOBILITY was showcased at the Galileo Booth hosted by the European GNSS Agency (GSA) (Hall 8.0, Stand 8.0H15) at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona, Spain. The GSA Galileo stand showcased several Horizon 2020 funded, Galileo-powered innovations, including the GALILEO FOR MOBILITY project. From 3 to 5 December, GALILEO FOR MOBILITY was presented during European Space Week, held in Marseille, France. Organised by the European GNSS Agency, the event gathered all European stakeholders to discover the latest applications in Earth observation and satellite navigation and learn about the latest status of Galileo, Copernicus and EGNOS. GALILEO FOR MOBILITY was presented at two sessions. Over the past month, GALILEO FOR MOBILITY and the Galileo technology has found its way to a couple of online publications.
