2020-07-09T14:51:20+00:00

We are happy to announce that a new bus-on-demand service has been launched in Terrassa (Catalonia) as a result of the GALILEO 4 Mobility Small-Scale Pilots call, which was launched late last year. The new service has been developed by the Association of Municipalities for Mobility and Urban Transport (AMTU), the City Council of Terrassa and TMESA, the operating company of the urban bus services in Terrassa. The service, which can be booked up to only 15 minutes before departure, is enabled by GALILEO-based platform Nemi and was funded by the GALILEO 4 Mobility project. You can find more information [...]

Lessons learned: Paris, Thessaloniki and Cervello

2020-06-30T15:56:29+00:00

Now the Galileo 4 Mobility project is quickly coming to an end, we spoke to the pilot leaders about their experiences. What is the status of the pilot? What are some of the (preliminary) results? We spoke to CERTH, co-leader of the taxi-sharing demo in Thessaloniki, and to Clem', who led the e-car sharing service in Paris.  CERTH Can you tell us a bit more about the status of the pilot? The taxi sharing service pilot in Thessaloniki started in May 2019 and was completed in March 2020, so it lasted for 11 months. The pilot was divided in two [...]

Galileo making it into Prague trams

2020-06-11T11:11:22+00:00

The Galileo 4 Mobility project aims to promote the use of Galileo technology in urban mobility, so we are very happy to announce that the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) has issued a tender for Galileo-enabled receivers to be included in the Prague tramways. The works would be part of their modernization plan to increase network efficiency and improve user experience. The Galileo-enabled, multifrequency, multiconstellation receivers that are being procured are expected to: From the end-user point of view: provide more accurate vehicle positioning data (down to 1,5 meters) to passengers. From the operator perspective: decrease maintenance costs; improve systems, such [...]

Sister project ARIADNA builds bridges with SIA project

2020-04-29T09:44:58+00:00

Great work often results from teamwork, something we also know in the ARIADNA project. Therefore, this week the ARIADNA consortium had a (virtual) meeting with the SIA project, to see how both can work together to promote GALILEO technology for the public transport sector. The main objective of the SIA (System for vehicle infrastructure Interaction Assets health status monitoring) project is to develop four ready-to-use new services (iWheelMon, iRailMon, iPantMon and iCatMon) providing prognostic information on the health status of the railway’s most demanding assets in terms of maintenance costs (wheel, rail, pantograph and catenary). ARIADNA and SIA are both funded by the [...]

Galileo 4 Mobility kicks off on-demand pilot in Spain

2020-03-09T14:23:03+00:00

After the pilots in Thessaloniki, Paris and Barcelona, another Galileo 4 Mobility pilot has kicked off! Taking place in Cervelló, a small town near Barcelona, this new pilot will test an on-demand bus service enabled with GALILEO technology. We spoke to PILDO Labs, who together with AMB (Metropolitan Area of Barcelona) leads the pilot. Can you briefly discuss the pilot, and elaborate on how the service will benefit from Galileo technology? The pilot in Cervelló aims at exploring the potential for on-demand bus schemes to replace regular bus services in areas with low population density. Cervelló is a small and geographically dispersed [...]
