Self-driving, or autonomous, vehicles are currently being tested in different areas and some are currently in use in restricted zones. However, the operation of autonomous vehicles on roads that are open to traffic is still very limited. To address this issue, the European Global Navigation Satellite Systems Agency (GSA) and the EU-funded project Galileo4Mobility are launching a joint call for Expressions of Interest aiming to select an autonomous vehicle (POD) to operate a public transportation service within a predefined but open to traffic area.
The selected company will have to provide the vehicle (POD) for the pilot duration (4-6 months) and the technical development needed in order to enable the vehicle to run autonomously within the pilot area.
The maximum budget for the selected supplier is €50.000.
